Ahmed Barakat is the Managing Partner at ASAR; the largest tier-one law firm in Kuwait. Ahmed has over 30 years of legal experience and has worked in Kuwait for the last 29 years. Ahmed specializes in construction, tax, banking and insurance litigation, as well as local and international arbitration. Ahmed also advises clients on corporate and commercial matters.
Ahmed has been recognized as a leading lawyer in Kuwait by a number of distinguished institutions. He has been consistently placed in tier one of practicing lawyers in Kuwait by Chambers & Legal 500. Ahmed has also been included in The Legal 500 Hall of Fame which highlights attorneys who have received constant praise by their clients. In Chambers and Partners, Ahmed is highlighted for his “strong litigation acumen” and his experienced representation of major global clients in the Kuwaiti market. Sources explain that he is “the Dean of Kuwaiti legal practice.”
Ahmed has published various articles in prestigious publications such as GAR, Oxford Business Group and the International Financial Law Review (IFLR). He has lectured in various workshops, spoken at various conferences, and has also appeared on Kuwait TV speaking on various legal issues.
Ahmed has extensive experience in the area of arbitration as a legal expert on Kuwaiti law. He has spoken at arbitration conferences; the most recent being the ICC Conference in Kuwait in 2020 and GAR Dubai in 2021.
