Judge Hosam Sadek

Assistant Minister of Justice, Head of the International and Cultural Cooperation Department ,Vice President of the Egyptian Court of Cassation, Arbitrator at the Cairo Regional Center for International Commercial Arbitration and Vice Chairman of the Arab Society for Commercial & Maritime law.

He was born in Alexandria – Egypt in 1962. He obtained Bachelor of Laws – Faculty of Laws – Alexandria University – Alexandria –Egypt. He was delegated as Deputy Minister of Justice for International and Cultural Affairs since on March 23rd, 2020.

 

He was appointed for the Public Prosecution in 1986 until he occupied the position of Chief Deputy. He was appointed as a judge for the Trial Court from 1992 to 1997. He was later promoted to the rank of Chief Justice from 1997 to 1999; he was delegated during this period as a member of the Technical Bureau of the General Administration for International Cooperation at the Egyptian Ministry of Justice. He then transferred to work for the Court of Cassation in which he progressed as Chief Prosecutor and then as a Public Prosecutor. He was appointed as a Judge for the Court of Cassation in 2008. He was later promoted to the rank of Vice President of the Court of Cassation in 2010. In 2019 he was delegated, in addition to this position, as Head of the International Relations Office at the Court of Cassation.

Judge Hossam Sadeq held several positions among which are “a Judge for The Arab Investment Court at the Arab League from 2016 to 2019, an Arbitrator for the Cairo Regional Center for International Commercial Arbitration and Vice President of the Arab Society for Commercial and Marine Laws. He also worked as a National Expert in the Training Courses for the “Supporting Modernization of Justice Management Project” at the European Union Program in collaboration with the National Center for Judicial Studies (2016-2018) for considering issues in Private International and Marine Laws. Moreover, he worked as an International Expert for “Expertise France” for the Judges of the Court of Appeal – Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan – on the subject of the rules of the 1978 Hamburg Agreement.

He gave several lectures for the Military Justice and African Cadres in the Training Courses held at the National Center for Judicial Studies, for Faculties of Laws at the Egyptian Universities and at the German University in Cairo and for The Faculty of Media at Pharos University in Alexandria – Egypt.

He participated in several conferences as a representative of the Egyptian Ministry of Justice. He also shared in several committees for amending economic legislations (The Bankruptcy Law) 2008.

He obtained several courses in diverse fields such as the Course of The Banking Institute affiliated to the Central Bank of Egypt and a course in the Workings and Activities of the Egyptian Exchange and Regulations of the Monetary Market. He got many courses in negotiation and Judicial Mediation domestically and abroad. He obtained a fellowship from Birmingham University – the United Kingdom – in 2005. He also shared in Session 33 at the American and International Laws Academy in collaboration with the Judicial Institutions and the Comparative International Law Center in Dallas – United States of America.
