Ms. Fatma Fathy Khalifa
Fatma Fathy Khalifa is currently a consultant at UNCITRAL. Her role encompasses, among other things, conducting research in the field of international trade law, organization and participation in UNCITRAL Days for Arab States.Β Since 2006 Ms. Khalifa works as a Counselor at the Foreign Disputes Department (FDD) in the Egyptian State Lawsuits Authority (ESLA) where she handled numerous commercial and investment international arbitrations on behalf of the State. From September 2021 till October 2022, Ms. Khalifa was seconded from the Egyptian government to join the Office of Legal Affairs, International Trade Law Division, UNCITRAL Secretariat, her work focused, among other things, on Working Group III (Investor-State Dispute Settlement Reform). Prior to joining FDD she has handled numerous cases before civil, criminal and administrative courts of Egypt. Β She served, on a part time basis, as a Legal Adviser to the Minister of Antiquities on the Grand Egyptian Museum project. Prior to that she served, also on a part time basis, as an Advisor to the Judicial Department of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs. She previously worked as a Researcher at the Cairo Regional Centre for International Commercial Arbitration (CRCICA) and as a Lecturer of Business Law at the British University of Egypt. Ms. Khalifa is a graduate of Cairo University where she obtained a Masters degree besides finishing an LLM from Kingβs College London.
