Dr. Mohamed Shehata

Dr. Mohamed Shehata is a Partner and the Head of Litigation department at Matouk Bassiouny. He is also an assistant professor and vice president of the Centre for Criminal Researches at the Cairo University, Faculty of Law. Formerly, Dr. Shehata acted as a member of the Technical Bureau of the Egyptian Supreme Committee for Legislative Reform (2021) and served as a member of Egypt’s Conseil d’Etat and Public Prosecution (2006). He is a speaker in local, regional and international conferences, and is admitted before the Egyptian Bar Association since 2004. Prior to returning to Matouk Bassiouny & Hennawy in 2019, Dr. Shehata acted as the General Counsel of Etisalat Misr. Dr. Shehata has over 18 years in the legal and telecom fields.

Dr. Shehata maintains a general contentious practice involving both plaintiff and defense work, with an industry focus on telecommunication, finance, energy, construction, employment, intellectual property, insurance, real estate, environment, commercial agency, investment and corporate disputes. Dr. Shehata specializes in handling major commercial disputes before Egyptian courts, arbitral tribunals and regulatory bodies. He has significant experience in arbitral disputes under ICC and CRCICA. He also acted as chairman, sole arbitrator and co-arbitrator in institutional and Ad Hoc arbitrations.
