Dr. Emad Hussein
Emad Hussein is an independent international arbitrator and Fellow at the Chartered Institute of Arbitrators (FCIArb). He has been appointed as Chairman, Sole Arbitrator, and co-arbitrator of arbitral tribunals under the Rules of the International Chamber of Commerce (ICC), the London Court of International Arbitration (LCIA), the Dubai International Arbitration Center (DIAC), the Abu Dhabi Commercial Conciliation and Arbitration Center (ADCCAC), the Cairo Regional Center for International Commercial Arbitration (CRCICA), the Saudi Centre for Commercial Arbitration (SCCA), and the Qatar International Center for Conciliation and Arbitration (QICCA). He has been empaneled as an arbitrator at SIAC, HKIAC and ADGMAC. He is also a certified Tutor and Assessor and listed on the Approved Faculty List (AFL) of the CIArb under the International Fellowship Program in Arbitration and trained several cohorts.
He is an Accredited Mediator by the Office of the Compliance Advisor/Ombudsman (CAO) of the World Bank Group, the Centre of Effective Dispute Resolution (CEDR), the Singapore International Mediation Institute (SIMI), and the International Mediation Institute (IMI). He has delivered courses focusing on mediation and conciliation in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, Kuwait, United Arab Emirates, and Qatar.
He is a Senior Fellow at the Singapore International Dispute Resolution Academy (SIDRA) and a fellow at the Asian Institute of Alternative Dispute Resolution (FAIADR). Additionally, he is a member of the Advisory Boards of the British University in Dubai (BUiD), INNOVADR Center for Dispute Resolution in Geneva, and the Libyan Center for International Commercial Arbitration (LCICA).
He is a keynote speaker, researcher, writer, lecturer, and has judged several international ADR competitions. He has made substantial contributions to international commercial arbitration, mediation, and conciliation, focusing on enhancing the competitiveness of arbitration seats, advocating for legislative and judicial reforms, and strengthening institutional capacities for arbitration and mediation centers. His efforts include spearheading institutional development projects, offering consultations to governmental bodies and ministries of justice and investment, and producing numerous research papers and articles on alternative dispute resolution, which have been published in Gulf newspapers and the CIArb Journal.
He holds a PhD in International Commercial Arbitration from the School of Oriental and African Studies (SOAS), University of London, UK, a PhD in International Business Management from the International School of Management (ISM), USA, an LLM in International Arbitration from Queen Mary College (QMUL), University of London, UK, and an LLM in Mediation and International Commercial Dispute Resolution from the School of Law, Newcastle University, UK.
