Dr. Abdullah Al-Hayyan
Dr. Abdullah Al-Hayyan is a Senior Partner at International Legal Group (law firm based in Kuwait) with 29 years of experience, specializing in local and international trade legislation, corporate and commercial business transactions, Islamic finance, and sports law. At International Legal Group, he is responsible for all law pertaining to the New Commercial Companies Law, Bankruptcy Law, Public-Private Partnerships Law and Small Projects Law.
Dr. Abdullah currently serves as the Chair of various local, regional and international sports committees, including the International Swimming Federation, Association of National Olympic Committees, and Court of Arbitration for Sport. He has also contributed to the development and formulation of several sports regulations in the Gulf region and is a member of numerous regional sport centers.
Dr. Abdullah formerly taught law at Kuwait University and the Gulf University of Science & Technology, and acted as advisor at the Kuwait Investment Authority. He was a key member of the Supreme Council for Planning and Development, and the Vice Chairman of Legislative Requirements of the Development Plan Committee.
Dr. Abdullah holds a PhD in Corporate Law from the University of Wales, UK and received both his LL.M. and Bachelor of Law from College of Law, Kuwait University. He has published over five research articles and authored one book.
