CRCICA Launches the “Beyond Arbitration” Lecture Series with a Lecture on International Valuation Standards
The Cairo Regional Centre for International Commercial Arbitration (CRCICA) is pleased to announce the launch of its new “Beyond Arbitration” Lecture Series, a knowledge initiative designed to explore interdisciplinary subjects that intersect with international dispute resolution and the broader practice of law, business, and finance.
The inaugural lecture of the series will take place on Wednesday, 20 May 2026, and will be delivered by Mr. Mostafa Elkaliouby, Director for the Middle East and Africa at the International Valuation Standards Council (IVSC).
Titled “International Valuation Standards,” the lecture will introduce participants to the International Valuation Standards (IVS) and their growing importance in global financial and legal practice. The session will explore the purpose, structure, and application domains of the IVS, explaining when and how the standards should be applied across different valuation contexts.
The lecture will examine the types of assets and liabilities subject to valuation, as well as the role of the IVS in supporting valuations for a wide range of purposes, including mergers and acquisitions (M&A), initial public offerings (IPOs), taxation, financial reporting, and legal disputes. Particular attention will also be given to valuation reporting, evidentiary requirements, and documentation practices in accordance with the standards.
Through this lecture, CRCICA seeks to provide practitioners, lawyers, financial experts, and academics with valuable insight into the role that valuation standards play in contemporary commercial practice, particularly in matters involving damages assessment, financial analysis, and dispute resolution.
This lecture inaugurates CRCICA’s Beyond Arbitration periodic Lecture collection, a new CRCICA intellectual product conceived as a carefully curated sequence of high-level, practice-oriented lectures addressing contemporary legal and dispute-resolution issues that extend beyond arbitration while remaining closely connected to it in both concept and practice. The periodic Lectures bring together leading voices from the region and beyond to foster meaningful dialogue, share advanced expertise, and advance professional practice through focused, accessible, and intellectually rigorous sessions.
