“Beyond Arbitration” Lecture 2:
Competition Law In Action: The Interaction Between Law & Business
The Cairo Regional Centre for International Commercial Arbitration (CRCICA) is pleased to announce the second lecture of its “Beyond Arbitration” Lecture Series, a knowledge initiative designed to explore interdisciplinary subjects that intersect with international dispute resolution and the broader practice of law, business, and finance.
The forthcoming lecture will take place on Monday, 15 June 2026, and will be delivered by Dr. Khaled Attia, FCIArb, Partner and Head of Dispute Resolution – Egypt, Nour & Partners in association with Al Tamimi & Company. The session will be moderated by Dr. Amr A. Abbas, Partner, Head of Arbitration and Co-Head of Competition at Matouk Bassiouny & Hennawy.
Entitled “Competition Law In Action: The Interaction Between Law & Business,” the lecture will examine the increasingly dynamic relationship between competition law and commercial activity in today’s rapidly evolving business environment. The session will explore how competition law operates in practice across a wide range of sectors and transactions, and how businesses, legal practitioners, regulators, and dispute-resolution professionals navigate the complex interaction between legal compliance, market conduct, and commercial strategy.
The lecture will further address key competition law considerations arising in mergers and acquisitions, commercial agreements, market dominance, regulatory investigations, and cross-border business operations. Particular attention will also be given to the practical implications of competition law enforcement, the growing intersection between competition law and dispute resolution, and the role of legal counsel in balancing regulatory obligations with commercial realities.
