The Cairo Regional Centre for International Commercial Arbitration (CRCICA), in collaboration with the International Institute for the Unification of Private Law (UNIDROIT), will organise an event entitled “New Developments on International Investment Contracts in Arbitration” on Saturday, 31 October 2026, from 10:00 a.m. to 12:00 noon, Cairo time, on the occasion of UNIDROIT’s centenary.

Bringing together distinguished international legal experts, the event will provide a forum to examine emerging trends and legal developments concerning international investment contracts and their implications for arbitration. Through an exchange of academic and practical perspectives, the discussion will offer participants an opportunity to deepen their understanding of developments shaping investment relationships and the resolution of related disputes.

Welcoming and opening remarks will be delivered by Prof. Dr. Ignacio Tirado, Secretary General of UNIDROIT, and Prof. Dr. Mohamed Sameh Amr, Dean of the Faculty of Law at Cairo University, Founder and Managing Partner of Amr & Partners Law Firm, and Member of CRCICA’s Board of Trustees.

The panel will feature Prof. Chin Leng Lim, Professor of Law at the Chinese University of Hong Kong and Member of the Institut de Droit International; Prof. José Antonio Moreno Rodríguez, Arbitrator and Member of the Governing Council of UNIDROIT; and Judge Dr. Mohamed A.M. Ismail, Vice-President of the Egyptian State Council (Conseil d’État). Their contributions will bring diverse legal perspectives and international experience to the discussion.

Held in celebration of UNIDROIT’s centenary, the event reflects CRCICA’s continued commitment to advancing legal knowledge, encouraging international cooperation and facilitating dialogue among practitioners, academics and institutions in the region and beyond.

The event will take place in a hybrid format, welcoming participants in person at the Dr. Nabil Elaraby Auditorium, CRCICA Conference Centre, first floor, 1 Al Saleh Ayoub Street, Zamalek, Cairo, and online via Zoom. The proceedings will be conducted in English, without interpretation.
