CRCICA Director Speaks on AI in Arbitration at the First Arab Judicial Conference

Cairo, Egypt – May 6, 2025 – Dr. Ismail Selim, Director of the Cairo Regional Centre for International Commercial Arbitration (CRCICA), President of the International Federation of Commercial Arbitration Institutions (IFCAI), Chairman of the Chartered Institute of Arbitrators (Egypt Branch), and Vice-President of the African Arbitration Association (AfAA), was a distinguished speaker at the First Arab Judicial Conference, entitled “Challenges of Judicial Work and Capacity Building in Light of Artificial Intelligence,” organized by the State Lawsuits Authority and the Arab Administrative Development Organization (ARADO) – League of Arab States, that took place in Cairo from May 5-7, 2025, at ARADO’s headquarters.

On May 6, 2025, Dr. Selim participated in the fifth panel session, which was moderated by Counselor Ahmed Saad, Vice President of the State Lawsuits Authority. The panel featured esteemed speakers, including Dr. Marwa Zein, Acting Head of Department and Programme Director for the Undergraduate Programme at the Faculty of Law, British University in Egypt; Dr. Haitham Safwat Hamza, Acting Chairman of SECC, TIEC; and Eng. Mohamed Abdel Azim, Director of Spatial Information Infrastructure Projects.

Dr. Selim delivered a presentation on “Regulations for the Use of Artificial Intelligence in the Field of Arbitration: Towards an Effective Digital Transformation in Dispute Resolution.” He focused on the critical importance of developing clear and robust guidelines for the integration of artificial intelligence in arbitration and highlighted the emerging institutional rules that aim to govern AI’s application in dispute resolution processes. His insights proved invaluable to participants seeking to navigate the evolving landscape of arbitration in the digital era.

CRCICA’s prominent presence at this landmark regional conference reaffirms its commitment to leading innovation and best practices in dispute resolution. Dr. Selim’s expertise and thought leadership contributed significantly to the dialogue on the responsible and effective use of artificial intelligence in the legal and arbitration sectors across the Arab region.
