CRCICA is proud to announce that Francesca Hany Georgy, Legal Researcher at the Case Dispute Management Department, has successfully completed the 12th China-Africa Legal Professional Exchange Program held from 30 June to 12 July 2025. Hosted by the China Law Society and co-organized by Guangdong University of Foreign Studies and Xiangtan University, the program brought together legal professionals from across Africa for a deep dive into the legal, economic, and institutional dimensions of China-Africa cooperation.
During the two-week program, Francesca visited Guangzhou, Xiangtan, and Changsha, and engaged in a range of academic and cultural activities. She introduced CRCICA’s work to law students, spoke on legal principles in construction arbitration in Egypt, and represented the Centre at two major legal events: the Forum on China-Africa Cooperation – Legal Forum 2025 and the Conference on Legal Risks and Countermeasures of International Investment and Trade.
Her keynote address, “The Path of Economic and Trade Development from the Perspective of the China-Africa Community of Shared Future,” analyzed the existing African arbitration framework in handling China-Africa disputes, identifying legal compatibility, cultural differences, and enforcement challenges as key bottlenecks. She called for deeper cooperation among institutions and the creation of inclusive, adaptive dispute resolution mechanisms.
Francesca’s participation underscores CRCICA’s commitment to advancing cross-regional legal collaboration and contributing to the development of credible, culturally sensitive dispute resolution frameworks within the Africa-China context.
