Cairo Court of Appeal Establishes Specialized Circuits for Post-Arbitral Proceedings
Recognizing the pivotal role of the judiciary in ensuring the smooth enforcement of arbitral awards, CRCICA has been actively engaged in discussions with the Cairo Court of Appeal to advance pro-arbitration policies.
In September 2024, Dr. Ismail Selim, Director of CRCICA, met with H.E. Judge Mohamed Nasr, President of Cairo Courts of Appeal, H.E. Judge Aly El Hawary, President of the Technical Office of the Cairo Courts of Appeal, along with the distinguished counselors of the said technical office. The meeting focused on measures to streamline and expedite post-arbitral proceedings.
A key outcome of these discussions was the recommendation to establish two specialized circuits dedicated exclusively to handling post-arbitral proceedings. This strategic move aims to enhance the efficiency of enforcement procedures by reducing the time required for arbitral awards to be recognized and executed. Additionally, it fosters consistency in judicial decisions by limiting the number of commercial chambers involved in post-arbitral matters.
This initiative underscores CRCICA’s ongoing collaboration with the judiciary to ensure that Egypt remains a leading hub for international arbitration in the region.
