
DRBF MENA Regional Conference and Workshop

On 14-15 November 2022, the CRCICA hosted and supported the Dispute Resolution Board Foundation (DRBF) MENA Regional Conference and Workshop. The DRBF Workshop, held on 14 November 2022, was designed for candidates interested in serving on DBs and implementing DBs for the first time. The Workshop was delivered by experienced DRBF tutors and practitioner who focused on Dispute Boards (DBs), international and multinational practice with binding decisions, and basic tenets of the Dispute Board (DB) process. The Programme of the DRBF Conference, held on 15 November 2022, included topics relating to the application of the DB Rules, its best practices and dispute avoidance. Experienced DRBF speakers presented the advantages of DB Rules, CRCICA’s DB Rules, FIDIC and other international DB Rules, and their application in the region, the importance of expertise in the project works, and independence and impartiality for successful DBs. The conference was concluded by a roundtable discussion on the distinctive issues and challenges facing DB application by project and DB experts. Dr. Dalia Hussein, CRCICA’s Deputy Director, represented CRCICA at the conference and presented CRCICA’s DB Rules.

Training Program on: Contract Management in Partnership with GIZ

CRCICA conducted the Second round of the "Contract Management Training Program" on 9 November 2022 held in partnership with the Deutsche Gesellschaft für Internationale Zusammenarbeit (GIZ), under the auspices of the Ministry of Housing, Utilities, and Urban Communities for 26 of the selected professionals from the Holding company for Water and Wastewater “HCWW” and its Affiliate Companies “ACs”.

SOAS/ALSF Counsel Training on International Arbitration CRCICA co-organized and hosted the SOAS/ALSF Counsel Training on International Arbitration in October 2022, jointly with three other Arbitral Centres in Africa, who had conducted the training successfully as follows:LACIAC (Lagos, Nigeria in April 2022), CMAG (Douala, Cameroon in June 2022), and KIAC (Kigali, Rwanda in July 2022)
The Counsel Training was a set of four training programs focusing on practitioners of international arbitration, and was delivered by a faculty of leading experts headed by Prof. Mohamed Abdel Wahab, Prof. Nagla Nassar and Prof. Emilia Onyema alongside the trainers Dr. Ismail Selim, Mr. Yasser Mansour, Mr. Taher Hozayen, Dr. Amira Mahmoud and Dr. Mohamed Hafez.
The training was attended by lawyers and state counsel who aimed to enhance their skills as counsel or party representative in international arbitration to enhance their knowledge and understand the role of counsel in international arbitration; practice modern drafting, advocacy skills and examination; and gain insight into and understanding of the functioning of the arbitral tribunal.

PETROJET Legal Employee’s Training

CRCICA conducted on 29 September 2022, a professional training for the legal employees of the Petroleum Projects and Technical Consultations Company "PETROJET".
The training was designed according to international standards and used a combination of experienced trainers, presentations and group discussions. The Training has covered construction contracts as well as the drafting of arbitration clauses and arbitral proceedings.
The training was delivered by Dr. Ismail Selim, Mr. Yasser Mansour, Eng. Nagy Iskander and Eng. Dr. Ahmed Dokhmasy, who contributed substantially - with their extensive expertise - to the quality and effectiveness of the training.
