Signing the Equal Representation in Arbitration Pledge

NewsEvents 2018 04 23 13 00 13 548719

On behalf of CRCICA, Dr. Ismail Selim signed the Equal Representation in Arbitration pledge in Abuja, Nigeria. The Pledge, which was first launched at GAR Live London in May 2016, asks its signatories to declare their commitment to improving the profile and representation of women in arbitration and ensuring they are appointed as arbitrators on an equal opportunity basis, with the ultimate goal of full parity. It now has over 2,000 signatures from individuals and institutions from around the world. The Pledge aspires to be a first step in the direction of achieving more equal representation of all under-represented groups in our arbitration community.

The final version of the text of the Pledge is the result of a collaborative effort between global representatives of corporate entities, states, arbitral institutions, arbitration practitioners – both counsel and arbitrators – and academics, drawn together by a Steering Committee.
