On 1 June 2023, the CRCICA and the Deutsche Institution fur Schiedsgerichtsbarkeit- the German Institution of Arbitration (DIS) held the first meeting for their bilateral Egyptian-German Working Group. The WG was co-chaired by Mr. Kilian Bälz, Partner at AMERELLER- Mena Associates and Dr. Ismail Selim, Director of the CRCICA.
The goal of the Working Group was to create an institutional and open forum to foster deeper links between the Egyptian and German arbitration communities by collaborating with the two leading arbitration institutions in their respective jurisdictions. During the meeting, participants discussed vital topics regarding state contracts and arbitration (based on the DIPCO case of the Egyptian Court of Cassation) presented by Dr Mohamed Aboul Saoud, Founding Partner at HYKMA Attorneys at Law, and arbitration in competition law matters from a German perspective, presented by Dr Heiner Kahlert, Attorney at Law and Managing Director at Martens Rechtsanwaelte.
It is worth noting that on 13 February 2023, the CRCICA/DIS Arbitration Group convened a roundtable with Dr. Ismail Selim, the Director of the CRCICA hosted by Amereller in Berlin and moderated by Dr. Kilian Bälz.
