Hybrid Seminar jointly organized by the Ciarb Egypt Branch, Dispute Resolution Board Foundation (DRBF) and the Cairo Regional Centre for International Commercial Arbitration CRCICA (Seat of the Branch) is scheduled to be held at CRCICA’s Conference Hall, first floor (Zamalek, Cairo) & online on 21 September 2025 at 5.00 pm Cairo Time.
The use of dispute boards is required in the FIDIC contracts and is an integral part of FIDIC’s Golden Principles. CRCICA has also dedicated rules to the engagement of dispute boards. However, despite these efforts for the promotion of dispute boards, there is still resistance in their use in Egypt and their provisions in FIDIC are still deleted. This event discusses an ongoing masters research at The American University in Cairo that attempts to uncover this resistance in the industry. The speakers are Ms Ann Russo, Executive Director of the DRBF; the masters student, Eng. Zeyad Gawad, Assistant Contract Manager at JLL, his two AUC supervisors, Prof. Samer Ezeldin, Professor of Construction Engineering, AUC, and the moderator Dr. Waleed El Nemr, Vice-Chair of the Ciarb Egypt Branch. This is certainly an event that should not be missed.
