Annual Conference of the CFA: La légitimité de l’arbitrage

On 1 December 2023, Dr. Ismail Selim spoke at “La légitimité de l’arbitrage” organized by the Comité français de l’arbitrage – CFA. Dr. Selim focused on the role of arbitral institutions to enhancing, improving, facilitating and guaranteeing the legitimacy of arbitration and arbitration proceedings, with institutions being one of the, legitimate regulators, of international arbitration. He also highlighted the role played by state courts decisions in support of the legitimacy of arbitral institutions and discussed some of the relevant decisions of the Egyptian Court of Cassation. Eminent speakers contributed to the event including Ms. Sara Koleilat-Aranjo, Partner at Morgan, Lewis & Bockius LLP for Arbitration and Litigation in Africa and the Middle-East, Ms. Emilie Gonin Barrister at Brick Court Chambers, and Nigel Blackaby KC Partner at Freshfields Bruckhaus Deringer US LLP.
