Cairo, 28 May 2025 – The Cairo Regional Centre for International Commercial Arbitration (CRCICA) was honored to host a distinguished delegation from the Asian International Arbitration Centre (AIAC). The AIAC delegation included Datuk Almalena Sharmila, Chief Executive Officer of AIAC, and Heather Yee Jing Wah, Assistant Director of AIAC.
This significant visit underscores a shared dedication to advancing international cooperation in the crucial fields of dispute resolution and investment protection. The meeting provided a valuable platform for the exchange of expertise, the cultivation of mutual understanding, and the development of enduring institutional partnerships.
During their visit, the AIAC delegation received a comprehensive presentation outlining CRCICA’s rich history and diverse range of services. This was followed by a tour of CRCICA’s state-of-the-art facilities. Discussions between the parties centered on the renewal of the Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) between the two sister centres. Such an agreement would represent a pivotal step in their joint endeavors to strengthen legal frameworks and promote best practices in dispute resolution.
The primary objective of this productive engagement was to lay the groundwork for substantive collaboration and the sharing of knowledge in key areas. These areas include arbitration, mediation, and other alternative dispute resolution (ADR) mechanisms, as well as insights into center operations and team development strategies.
