The Cairo Regional Centre for International Commercial Arbitration (CRCICA) launched its Inaugural Annual Lecture on Tuesday, 20 January 2026, at Le Grand Hall, Sofitel Cairo Nile El Gezirah.
The first lecture in the CRCICA Annual Lecture Series, titled “Constructive Reasoning: The Promise of Order in Arbitral Awards,” was delivered by the distinguished Professor Dr. Mohamed Salah El-Din Abdel Wahab. Through a rigorous and insightful analysis, the lecture underscored the pivotal role of constructive reasoning in arbitral awards as a cornerstone for enhancing their quality, ensuring consistency, and promoting legal certainty, thereby reinforcing confidence in institutional arbitration.
Professor Dr. Mohamed Salah El-Din Abdel Wahab is widely recognized as a leading expert in international arbitration, with an accomplished academic and professional career spanning over two decades. He is Founding Partner & Head of International Arbitration, Construction and Energy, Zulficar & Partners, Professor of International Arbitration, Private International Law and English Contract Law, Cairo University, Member of the ICCA Governing Board (The Hague); Chair of the ICC Governing Body for Dispute Resolution Services (Paris – France); President the Ciarb for 2025, Dean of the Africa Arbitration Academy and Member of the Curatorium of the Hague Academy of International Law; His contributions include teaching, legal consulting, authoring numerous peer-reviewed studies, and participating in prestigious national and international arbitration panels. He is particularly renowned for his work in developing standards of reasoning in arbitral awards, establishing himself as both a scholarly authority and a highly respected practitioner in the field.
The event brought together more than 140 distinguished guests, including senior judges, leading arbitrators, academics, legal practitioners, and representatives of prominent legal institutions, reflecting the arbitral community’s strong interest in CRCICA’s high-quality intellectual forums. Among the attendees were H.E. Counsellor Mahmoud Fawzy Abdel Bari, Minister of Parliamentary and Legal Affairs and Political Communication, and H.E. Judge Assem Abdel Latif El-Ghaish, President of the Court of Cassation and Chairman of the Supreme Judicial Council, alongside a wide array of prominent figures from the legal and judicial community specializing in arbitration and dispute resolution.
The lecture was marked by rich discussions and active engagement from attendees, underscoring both the relevance of the topic and CRCICA’s role as a leading intellectual and professional hub for arbitration in the region.
This inaugural lecture marks the official launch of CRCICA’s Annual Lecture Series, reaffirming the Centre’s continued commitment to advancing specialized legal knowledge, fostering meaningful dialogue, and promoting excellence in arbitration practice.
