CRCICA Successfully Concludes Activities Under the “Support of Justice Initiatives: Curbing Corruption and Promoting Commercial Dispute Resolution” Project
We are pleased to announce the successful completion of CRCICA’s activities within the framework of the EU-funded initiative “Support to Justice Initiatives: Curbing Corruption and Promoting Commercial Dispute Resolution,” implemented by UNDP Iraq.
The initiative commenced with a study visit to Egypt in December 2024, where a delegation of Iraqi judges visited the 𝐂𝐚𝐢𝐫𝐨 𝐄𝐜𝐨𝐧𝐨𝐦𝐢𝐜 𝐂𝐨𝐮𝐫𝐭 and CRCICA premises in Cairo. During this visit, Dr. Ismail Selim facilitated insightful discussions on arbitration procedures and the administration of arbitral proceedings. The visit concluded with the judges’ participation in CRCICA’s flagship Conference on “𝐓𝐡𝐞 𝐑𝐨𝐥𝐞 𝐨𝐟 𝐒𝐭𝐚𝐭𝐞 𝐂𝐨𝐮𝐫𝐭𝐬 𝐢𝐧 𝐈𝐧𝐭𝐞𝐫𝐧𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧𝐚𝐥 𝐀𝐫𝐛𝐢𝐭𝐫𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧.” 𝐓𝐚𝐤𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐏𝐥𝐚𝐜𝐞 𝐢𝐧 𝐒𝐡𝐚𝐫𝐦 𝐄𝐥-𝐒𝐡𝐞𝐢𝐤𝐡 on 4-5 December 2024.
Following this, CRCICA played a pivotal role in the “𝐓𝐫𝐚𝐢𝐧 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐓𝐫𝐚𝐢𝐧𝐞𝐫𝐬 𝐏𝐫𝐨𝐠𝐫𝐚𝐦 𝐢𝐧 𝐀𝐫𝐛𝐢𝐭𝐫𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧” from 13-20 December 2024, equipping six distinguished judges from Iraq’s Supreme Judicial Council with advanced arbitration expertise and modern teaching methodologies. This initiative aims to empower these judges to train their peers, ensuring a sustainable, long-term impact on Iraq’s judiciary and arbitration landscape.
The program concluded with an intensive 𝐟𝐢𝐯𝐞-𝐝𝐚𝐲 𝐰𝐨𝐫𝐤𝐬𝐡𝐨𝐩 from 19-23 January 2025 led by Dr. Ismail Selim, CRCICA’s Director, and Prof. Dr. Mohamed ABDEL RAOUF., Partner and Head of the International Arbitration Group at ABDEL RAOUF LAW FIRM, Cairo-Egypt. The workshop covered “Comparative Commercial Arbitration: Theory and Practice ‘CCATP’ qualifying for the Ciarb membership (MCiarb)” since CRCICA is a Recognized Course Provider (RCP) accredited to provide this training course.
As a proud partner in this initiative, CRCICA remains dedicated to fostering collaboration, knowledge exchange, and capacity building in arbitration across the region. We extend our sincere appreciation to UNDP Iraq, led by Sophie Tkemaladze, FCIArb, and to all partners and participants for their invaluable contributions in making this initiative a success.
