CRCICA’s Merna Salib Participates in the Inaugural Annual Forum of OIC Member Dispute Resolution Centres in Istanbul

The Cairo Regional Centre for International Commercial Arbitration (CRCICA) is pleased to announce the participation of Ms. Merna Salib, Senior Case Manager, in the Inaugural Annual Forum of OIC Member Dispute Resolution Centres, held on 28 November 2025 in Istanbul. Organized alongside the OIC-AC ADR Week. 

The Forum was convened with welcoming remarks by Dr. Umar Oseni, Secretary General of the OIC Arbitration Centre, followed by Opening Remarks and moderation by Mr.James MacPherson, International Mediator and ADR Specialist. This was followed by Opening Remarks from Dr. Emad Hussein, FCIArb, Deputy President of the International Court of Arbitration of the OIC Arbitration Centre. The session concluded with an Opening Keynote Address delivered by Prof. Dr. Mohamed Abdel Wahab, C.Arb, FCIArb, President of the Chartered Institute of Arbitrators (CIArb) and Founding Partner of Zulficar & Partners Law Firm.

The Forum began with a closed-door roundtable that brought together leading figures and representatives of arbitral institutions from across OIC Member States to discuss the proposed establishment of the Federation of OIC Arbitration Centres (FOAC). The initiative aims to enhance cooperation, strengthen institutional collaboration, and elevate dispute resolution standards across the OIC region, laying a solid foundation for a more coordinated and unified ADR platform. During the session, participants emphasized on the importance of collective action, reinforcing institutional ties, and working together to develop a connected, OIC-wide ADR Platform.

Following the roundtable, Ms. Salib took part as a speaker in the public plenary session titled “Optimizing Global Arbitration: Institutional Reforms and the Future of Procedural Efficiency”. Moderated by Dr. Emad Hussein, the session was joined by Mr. Hicham Zegrary (Casablanca International Mediation and Arbitration Centre (CIMAC)), Ms. Hauwa K. Usman, Esq. FCIArb (Nigerian Chambers of Commerce Dispute Resolution Centre), Mr. Danesh Chandran,( Asian International Arbitration Centre) and Mr. Khaled Elgarhe (Qatar International Center for Conciliation and Arbitration), who shared insights on enhancing procedural efficiency, emerging institutional reforms, strengthening cooperation and cross-centre collaboration among OIC Member States. Their discussions collectively aimed at laying the foundation for the establishment of the Federation of OIC Arbitration Centres (FOAC).

CRCICA’s participation reflects its dedication to enhancing dialogue among OIC institutions, supporting innovation in arbitration and mediation practices, and contributing meaningfully to regional and global ADR development.
