High-Level Roundtable: Arbitration in Waste Management Disputes

A high-profile and insightful roundtable discussion on “Arbitration in Waste Management Sector Disputes” took place during Dubai Arbitration Week on Wednesday, November 12, 2025. Jointly organized by the Cairo Regional Centre for International Commercial Arbitration (CRCICA) and ALAIDAROUS Advocates and Legal Consultants, the event was hosted at the ALAIDAROUS office in Dubai and was praised for its remarkable richness and depth of content, addressing the increasing complexities of disputes within this vital sector. The session commenced with welcome remarks from Mr. Ai Al Aidarous, Managing Attorney at ALAIDAROUS, and Prof. Dr. Ismail Selim, Director of CRCICA.

 The core of the event was the Roundtable Session, which facilitated a highly valuable and informative intellectual exchange. Prof. Dr. Georges Affaki, a CCEF, C.Arb, and FCIArb Professor and Partner at Avocat à la Cour, masterfully moderated the discussion, ensuring a dynamic and focused flow. A distinguished panel of speakers shared their profound experience and scholarly contributions, which were instrumental in achieving the high quality of discourse. The speakers included Mr. Khaled Saqqaf (Partner – Head of Jordan & Iraq Offices at Al Tamimi & Co.), Dr. Tarek F. Riad (Managing Partner at Kosheri, Rashed & Riad and Previous Chairman of the Executive Committee at Dubai International Arbitration Center – DIAC), Prof. Dr. Mohamed Sameh Amr (Dean of the Faculty of Law, Cairo University, Managing Partner at Amr & Partners, and Former Ambassador to UNESCO), and Prof. Dr. Hadi Slim (Law Professor at François-Rabelais University, France).

 CRCICA expressed its sincere gratitude for the significant efforts invested by all participants, which were fundamental to the event’s success. Particular appreciation was given to the great leadership and efficient team of ALAIDAROUS Advocates & Legal Consultants for the seamless co-organization and excellent arrangements, which provided a professional and conducive environment. The generosity and hospitality of Mr. Ali Al Aidarous were also specifically acknowledged. The event successfully brought together a distinguished group of experts to explore the nuances of arbitration in waste management disputes, underscoring the organizers’ commitment to advancing legal expertise in specialized commercial sectors and paving the way for potential future engagements.
