Unlocking the 10 GW Renewable Market Potential in Egypt, 8 May 2018, Aswan, Egypt

On 8 May 2018, Dr. Dalia Hussein, CRCICA Deputy Director, participated in the Round Table at the conference titled “Unlocking the 10 GW Renewable Market Potential in Egypt”, Aswan, Egypt. The event was organized by DII Desert Energy and Enara Energy and attended by representatives of renewable energy companies, financial institutions and banks. Dr. Hussein gave an overview about CRCICA as an international organization and its UNCITRAL-based Arbitration Rules. She also addressed the issues related to the settlement of disputes in renewables related agreements through arbitration, focusing on the distinction between the seat of arbitration and the place of arbitration, and the legal consequences resulting from their choice by the parties regarding the setting aside and enforcement of arbitral awards.

It is worth noting that CRCICA arbitration clause was inserted in around 20 renewable energy projects by the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD) and other financial institutions with a possibility to have the seat of arbitration in Paris.
