CRCICA and Alexandria University Conclude the 3rd Vis Moot Training Initiative

The Cairo Regional Centre for International Commercial Arbitration (CRCICA), in collaboration with Alexandria University (AlexU), successfully organized the 3rd AlexU–CRCICA Vis Moot Training Program from 9 to 11 February 2026 at CRCICA’s premises. This intensive, highly focused training was exclusively tailored for student teams preparing for the upcoming Willem C. Vis International Commercial Arbitration Moot in Vienna. Over three dynamic and interactive days, the program delivered a comprehensive educational journey, guiding participants from foundational legal principles to high-level oral advocacy performance.

The training was led by an outstanding faculty of renowned international arbitration experts and seasoned Vis Moot trainers. The distinguished lineup included Prof. Ronald A. Brand, Chancellor Mark A. Nordenberg Professor of Law at the University of Pittsburgh School of Law; Elizabeth Taylor, Senior Associate at Reed Smith LLP; and Robert Cimmino, Associate at Watt, Tieder, Hoffar & Fitzgerald. Their combined expertise provided the student teams with invaluable, hands-on mentorship, significantly sharpening their legal analysis and deepening their practical understanding of both complex written submissions and persuasive oral pleadings.

Throughout the curriculum, participants engaged in a thorough breakdown of the 33rd Vis Moot Problem, aligning their legal strategies with the commercial realities of international disputes. The program featured advanced masterclasses on strategic argument development, specialized insights into contemporary topics like third-party funding, and rigorous, targeted breakout sessions for both Claimant and Respondent positions. The initiative culminated in fast-paced oral argument speed tests and full-scale practice mock rounds that accurately simulated real Vis Moot hearings, effectively sharpening the participants’ advocacy, strategy, and tribunal engagement skills. The event successfully concluded with a comprehensive wrap-up and a group photograph, marking three days of focused preparation and reaffirming CRCICA’s institutional commitment to fostering the next generation of arbitration practitioners.
