The Cairo Regional Centre for International Commercial Arbitration (CRCICA) is pleased to announce the fourth lecture of its “Beyond Arbitration” Lecture Series, a knowledge initiative designed to explore interdisciplinary subjects that intersect with international dispute resolution and the broader practice of law, business, and finance.

The forthcoming lecture will take place on Tuesday, 15 September 2026, from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. at the CRCICA Nabil El Araby Auditorium (1st Floor), and will be delivered in Arabic by Mr. Sameh Khodeir, Senior Partner and Head of the Oil & Gas Department at Zaki Hashem, Attorneys at Law.

Entitled “The Legal Regime of Oil and Gas Exploration and Exploitation in Egypt,” the lecture will examine the principal legal and regulatory framework governing the activities in Egypt’s oil and gas sector, with particular emphasis on the rules and arrangements applicable to exploration and exploitation activities. It will consider the legal foundations of concession structures and the relationships among the State, investors, operators, and other participants throughout the exploration and production lifecycle.

Drawing on Mr. Khodeir’s extensive experience in oil and gas transactions and disputes, the lecture will address key contractual, regulatory, and practical considerations arising in the sector. It will also shed light on the legal issues that may emerge in the implementation of concession agreements and related transactions, as well as their connection with dispute resolution and arbitration.

Through this lecture, CRCICA seeks to provide legal practitioners, corporate counsel, arbitrators, academics, regulators, and energy-sector professionals with valuable insight into a field of central importance to Egypt’s legal and economic landscape.
