On 18-20 November 2020, CRCICA was represented by Dr. Ismail Selim at the virtual 41st Annual Conference on “Making Arbitration (and ADR) Work for Africa” organized by the Nigerian Institute of Chartered Arbitrators (NICArb). The event was a gathering of experts in arbitration and other ADR sectors globally, policymakers, and practitioners to discuss solutions in improving the use and practice of arbitration and other ADR as a dispute resolution mechanism in Africa and across the globe.
Dr. Selim contributed to the plenary 7 titled “The New Normal: Positioning Africa’s Post-COVID Arbitration Landscape through Digitization and Data” moderated by Dr. Chidinma Thompson, Partner, Borden Ladner Gervais LLP, Canada. Dr. Selim focused on the measures and digital technologies used by CRCICA as an effective response to COVID 19 to support its users to administer their cases without undue delay.
The panel addressed the institutional needs of the African arbitration market, chart a pathway for incremental investments in digital and data for the march toward a digital penetration in the arbitration ecosystem in Africa.
