Laurie Labbaye

After a first experience working at the CRCICA in 2020, Laurie Labbaye returned for an internship from January to July 2022. Laurie, a French student studying for the bar exam, holds a Master’s degree in International Business Law from Paris Panthéon-Sorbonne/Cairo University (IDAI) and a Master’s degree in Common Law and Comparative Law from Paris V Descartes.

During her second period at the CRCICA, Laurie assisted in drafting legal articles and researches. She also acted as a co-arbitrator in the AlexandriaU-CRCICA Vis Pre-Moot and was involved in the publication of the French version of the CRCICA Dispute Board Rules. She also witnessed the first arbitration case registered by CRCICA in the French language at the beginning of the semester. This experience convinced her that she would like to continue working in the field of international arbitration.

According to Laurie: “I am very grateful to have had this experience at the CRCICA. It allowed me to deepen my knowledge in dispute resolution and to be involved closely in arbitration cases. I admire the effort the Centre put in promoting dispute resolution mechanisms in the Middle East and Africa and I learnt a lot in participating in numerous conferences throughout the semester”.

Laurie is currently undertaking two internships in law firms in Paris, before sitting the French bar exam in September 2023.
