Nabil Fahmy Elected as Chairman of CRCICA BoT

π‚πšπ’π«π¨,Β π„π π²π©π­Β β€“Β πŸπŸ—Β πŽπœπ­π¨π›πžπ«Β πŸπŸŽπŸπŸ’Β β€“ The Cairo Regional Center for International Commercial Arbitration (CRCICA) is pleased to announce that H.E. Ambassador Nabil Fahmy, former Minister of Foreign Affairs, has been elected as the new Chairman of the Board of Trustees, a decision made official following the meeting of the Board of Trustees on 29 October 2024.

With a career spanning over three decades (1976-2011) as a committed diplomat, Nabil Fahmy exemplifies steadfast dedication and visionary leadership. Serving as Egypt’s Foreign Minister from 2013 to 2014, he played a pivotal role in redefining and broadening the nation’s foreign policy, expertly navigating complex geopolitical dynamics to secure a wider range of strategic options on both regional and global stages. His tenure came at a transformative juncture in Egypt’s history, where his influence proved instrumental in steering the country toward greater autonomy, resilience, and engagement on the world stage.

Throughout his distinguished diplomatic career, Fahmy held prestigious roles, including ambassador to the United States and Japan. His expertise encompassed crucial issues such as international security, disarmament, conflict resolution, and Arab-Israeli diplomacy. He actively participated in numerous international forums, including the United Nations’ disarmament advisory board and the first committee on disarmament, showcasing his commitment to global peace and security.

Beyond his diplomatic achievements, Fahmy is a respected scholar and educator. June 2009Β –Β June 2022,Β he was the Founding Dean, Professor of Practice in International Diplomacy School of Global Affairs and Public Policy (GAPP), Ambassador in Residence, The American University in Cairo. Serving as the founding dean for over a decade, he has been instrumental in nurturing the next generation of leaders and thinkers in these vital fields, and establishing GAPP as a leading institution dedicated to addressing contemporary challenges in public affairs, law, journalism, and regional studies.

Nabil Fahmy stands as a towering figure whose contributions have left an indelible mark on numerous prestigious institutions worldwide. With a distinguished career that spans both diplomatic and academic arenas, Fahmy has been a trusted member, and frequently the chair, of various boards of trustees and advisory boards, where his strategic vision and deep expertise have been instrumental in shaping organizational missions and enhancing their global impact.Β  His influence resonates across fields, fostering an enduring culture of innovation, principled governance, and forward-thinking policy that continues to inspire institutions and leaders alike.

Fahmy is also an accomplished author, with his recent book, β€œEgypt’s Diplomacy in War, Peace, and Transition,” designed to enlighten future generations about the complexities of statecraft over the past fifty years. His commitment to knowledge sharing is further exemplified by his updated Arabic publication, β€œFrom the Heart of Events,” which enriches the discourse on Egyptian diplomacy.

In his new role as Chairman of the Board of Trustees at CRCICA, Fahmy brings a wealth of knowledge and experience that will be invaluable in advancing the Center’s mission to promote arbitration and dispute resolution within Egypt and the broader region. His leadership is expected to enhance CRCICA’s role as a pivotal institution in fostering effective dispute resolution practices and upholding the principles of justice and fairness in international commercial arbitration.
