Elevating Arbitration Expertise: Lawyers Complete Practice-Focused Training Program in Cairo
Cairo, Egypt – May 13, 2025 – Legal and Engineering professionals have successfully completed an intensive, practice-oriented training program held in Cairo this week. The program, organized under the African-German Arbitration Cooperation (AFGAC) Initiative, took place from May 11-13 at the Cairo Regional Centre for International Commercial Arbitration (CRCICA).
The program was jointly conducted by leading Egyptian practitioners and international arbitration experts affiliated with the Hamburg Arbitration Circle e.V. The faculty included Dr. Ismail Selim, Director of CRCICA; Professor Dr. Antje Baumann, Founding Partner of BAUMANN Resolving Disputes; Mr. Georg Scherpf, Partner at Luther’s Complex Disputes Group; Mr. Muhammad Ussama, Senior Partner at SHALAKANY; Mr. Sherif El Saadani, Partner at Amereller; and Mr. Samer Badran, Principal Partner at Badran Law Office.
The training fostered a dynamic and collegial learning environment, enabling participants to share experiences and build valuable professional connections. At the conclusion of the program, each participant received a certificate of attendance, jointly signed by the Director of CRCICA and the Lead Trainer from the Hamburg Arbitration Circle, commemorating their successful completion of the course.

This program marks the beginning of a broader series of training initiatives under the AFGAC umbrella—a collaborative platform bringing together CRCICA, the Kigali International Arbitration Centre (KIAC), the Nairobi Centre for International Arbitration (NCIA), the Hamburg Chamber of Commerce, and the LAWCOM Institute. The Initiative is committed to advancing arbitration expertise, promoting cross-regional cooperation, and reinforcing arbitration as a trusted and effective dispute resolution mechanism across Africa and beyond.
