CRCICA attends 2024 Gaillard lecture

Dr. Ismail Selim and Dr. Dalia Hussein attended the 2024 Gaillard lecture, organized by Gaillard Banifatemi Shelbaya Disputes on 29 December 2024, at the historic Abdeen Palace.

The event was introduced by H. E. Counselor Abdel-Razak Shoaib, the President of the Egyptian State Lawsuits Authority, Judge Moustafa Elbahabety, Deputy Minister of Justice for Arbitration and International Disputes, and Mohamed Shelbaya, Founding Partner, Gaillard Banifatemi Shelbaya Disputes.

It featured a captivating conversation between esteemed legal minds on the crucial role of State courts in international arbitration: Judge Ismail Borhan Amrallah, Vice President of the Egyptian Court of Cassation, Judge Nabil Omran, Vice-President of the Egyptian Court of Cassation and Head of the Commissioners’ Panel at the Court of Cassation of Dubai, and Judge Dominique Hascher, Former Judge at the French Court of Cassation and the Paris Court of Appeal and Adjunct Professor of Law at Université Panthéon-Sorbonne.

The panelists discussed many important issues regarding the support of state courts to arbitration in Egypt, France and the UAE. Panelists also showed the support of Egyptian courts to institutional arbitration, by examining many decisions related to CRCICA cases seated in Cairo, where the court recognized the role of CRCICA’s Advisory Committee to decide on the challenges for arbitrators, and enforced interim measures ordered by arbitral tribunals.
