On 20 May 2024, the Cairo Regional Centre for International Commercial Arbitration (CRCICA) and the Egyptian Federation of Construction and Building Contractors (EFCBC) signed a cooperation protocol aimed at strengthening the role of arbitration and alternative dispute resolution (ADR) in the construction sector. Under this agreement, CRCICA will provide specialized training courses to members of EFCBC, promoting arbitration and ADR as efficient mechanisms for resolving present and future disputes arising from contracts between employers and contractors, as well as subcontract agreements.
Engineer Mohamed Sami Saad, President of EFCBC, emphasized the increasing importance of arbitration in construction contracts, noting that future agreements between developers and contractors will formally include arbitration clauses. He explained that when disputes cannot be resolved amicably, arbitration will serve as the fastest and most effective mechanism for achieving fair resolutions.
Dr. Ismail Selim, Director of CRCICA, reaffirmed CRCICA’s commitment to supporting the construction industry through efficient dispute resolution mechanisms, stating: “Arbitration, Mediation, and Dispute Boards under CRCICA Rules offer the most cost-efficient means to resolve construction disputes.”
This collaboration marks an important step in promoting arbitration and ADR practices within the construction and building sector, ensuring that disputes are managed professionally, efficiently, and in accordance with international best practices.
