CRCICA Welcomes a High-Level Delegation of Iraqi Judges: A Proud Partner in Advancing Arbitration Excellence

Cairo, December 3, 2024

The Cairo Regional Centre for International Commercial Arbitration (CRCICA) proudly hosted a distinguished delegation of Iraqi judges and representatives from UNDP Iraq led by esteemed Sophie Tkemaladze, FCIArb, at our Cairo headquarters. This pivotal visit falls under the framework of the EU-funded initiative, “Support to Justice Initiatives: Curbing Corruption and Promoting Commercial Dispute Resolution,” in which CRCICA plays a vital role as a key partner. Through this project, UNDP Iraq supports the Iraqi Government in strengthening the legal framework and building capacity for arbitration.

As an active partner in this impactful initiative, CRCICA is proud to contribute to fostering collaboration, knowledge exchange, and capacity building in arbitration across the region.

The visit commenced with a tour of CRCICA’s state-of-the-art premises, including our modern hearing rooms, and an introduction to our dedicated secretariat team and facilities.

Dr. Ismail Selim, Director of CRCICA, led an inspiring session, presenting the Center’s rich legacy, organizational structure, and impressive casework statistics. His presentation highlighted CRCICA’s pivotal role as a regional and international hub for arbitration. A dynamic Q&A session followed, offering the Iraqi delegation an opportunity to delve deeper into arbitration practices and exchange insights with Dr. Selim.

This visit underscores CRCICA’s commitment to advancing arbitration excellence, promoting legal reform, and fostering meaningful partnerships. We are honored to support such initiatives and look forward to continued efforts in shaping a more robust dispute resolution landscape in the region.
