Prior to the IFCAI Council Meeting, Dr. Selim attended the IFCAI General Assembly held on 8 June 2022 in Rome. The meeting was chaired by outgoing President Mr. Stefano Azzali, Director General of the Milan Chamber of Arbitration (CAM), and attended by 32 participants representing 24 Member institutions to vote IFCAI’s newest Constitution, and elect its new Council. IFCAI members thanked Mr. Azzali for the considerable advancements under his leadership and his years of service and involvement in the Federation since 1992.
It is worth noting that Dr. Ismail Selim is the first and sole Arab, African and Egyptian elected to preside the IFCAI. Previously, Dr. Selim was appointed Secretary Treasurer of the IFCAI by virtue of a decision of the IFCAI’s General Assembly held at the Hong Kong International Arbitration Centre (“HKIAC”) on 16 October 2017. Since the inception of the IFCAI, the collaboration between the CRCICA and the IFCAI took place in 1986 when Dr. Mohamed Aboul-Enein, former Director of the CRCICA, was elected as Vice-President of the Federation and then Chairman of the its Institutional Section. The first IFCAI International Biennial Conference was hosted by the CRCICA in 1992. Prof. Dr. Mohamed Abdel Raouf, former Director of the CRCICA, was once elected as the Vice President of the IFCAI.
